Nutritional solutions should be considered as part of a multimodal management plan for improving the well-being of anxious dogs and preserving the pet–owner relationship. A broad overview of the impact of diet on behavior in dogs will be presented, with specific recommendations for potential intervention that shows promise in alleviating signs of anxiety in dogs. A holistic approach incorporating both behavioral and physiological measures can demonstrate a positive impact of the probiotic Bifidobacterium longum on mediating anxious behavior and stress responses in anxiety-prone dogs.
